"The man behind it is Mr Walther C. Jerome, of worchester, Mass.
As its name implies, assuring the survival of its occupants in a crash situation was the primary purpose of its designer.
It was built in 1959, using a 1948 Hudson Sedan as the basis. Jerome hoped to convince the major car makers to purchase his automotive safety ideas and adapt them to their own products. among these ideas there was an articulated, two-section body with engine, drivetrain and steering up frontand control and passenger cabin in the rear. Also, both body sections were ringed by heavy-duty bumpers and the driver occupied an elevated, centally-located seat with a panoramic view of the road. No manufacturers lined up to buy his patents and Jerome also got no orders for complete cars. The lone example built ...survives...in the collection of Edward Moore in Bellingham, Mass."

In the early fifties he modified a '47 Hudson and built a car that was in 2 sections, the engine in front connected to the passenger compartment in back via an articulated joint. For maximum visibility the driver sat in the raised turret area surrounded by 360 degree glass cylinder that rotated thru vertical squeegees so the driver wouldn't have to view the road obscured by wiper blades. The Italians have proposed to develop a new "ZIL" for President

The Italian studio Pininfarina Vehicle Body intends to develop a fundamentally new car "ZIL" for the Russian leadership.

C'est avec cette aero II ci qu'ils veulent détroner la Veyron en vitesse de pointe. Grace à la magie des turbos c'est possible mais dans combien de pays est-elle homologuée ? et sa garantie dépasse-t-elle les 10000 km ??:(

Regarding performance, until few years ago priorities were, in this order: top speed, acceleration and handling.
In recent years this has been changing. Together with design, handling and acceleration are becoming more important. Speed is not as important anymore, because all supersportscars are exceeding 300km/h (186 mph) and this is a speed that you cannot reach even on a racetrack, let alone normal roads. We think it is time to make a shift and talk more about handling and acceleration.

The key factor in terms of better handling and acceleration, meaning more immediate pleasure in driving, is the power-to-weight ratio. This is not so much about top speed and so the future will not be so focused on increasing the power, even because CO2 emissions do play a role for supersportscars too. That means the key is in reducing the weight.

A crucial part of this is to understand how to reduce the weight. Since we cannot reduce safety or comfort in our cars, we have to reduce the weight by using new materials.

Evidemment.
D'une part elle n'a pas d'aileron et d'autre part n'est pas aussi boursoufflé que sur la seconde photo.

Yup. Illustration mais qui colle au mulet. Pas celui qui été détruit, le nouveau.
Comme sur la 458, les flaps du museau sont mobiles aérodynamiquement et électriquement.

Les portes en ailes de papillon sont surprenantes.
